The first phase of Russia's Sputnik-V vaccine inoculation began at Gothatuwa for Colombo district residents yesterday, received no complications, Gothatuwa Administrative Public Health Inspector (PHI) Nalin Fonseka said.
He told the media that around 670 vaccines were given yesterday for people aged between 30 and 60 and they were the first to receive the vaccine.
Sri Lanka began rolling out Sputnik V vaccine for COVID developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Russia yesterday.
Arrangements are being made to provide 1,200 vaccines at the Rahula College in Mulleriyawa today and to distribute 14,000 doses of this new vaccine to the public within the next 10 days at the Grama Niladhari Division in Gothatuwa. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
