Hockey Nationals rescheduled for January

Colombo, Dec. 16 (Daily Mirror) - The 2023 Senior National Men’s and Women’s Hockey Tournament, which was postponed due to bad weather, will be worked off from January 25 to 28 at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita.

The 2023 Senior National Men’s and Women’s Hockey Tournament was scheduled for November before it was put off due to bad weather.

A total of 14 teams will compete in the Men’s Tournament while 10 teams will be vying for honours in the Women’s Tournament.

This event will also be a trial to form the Men’s and Women’s National Pool in preparation for the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Tournament, which will be held in February and March next year.

The Men’s and Women’s National Pool will commence their training for the AHF Tournament in February 2024.

Meanwhile, the hockey talent programme conducted by the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation (SLHF) is currently underway at the District level and some of these players are also set to join the National Pool.
