The Civil Security Force has now been designated as an attrition force where no recruitment has been done in three-and-a-half years, the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) revealed.
This was revealed at the COPA meeting held recently to examine the Auditor General's report and current performance of the Civil Defense Department for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
The officials present pointed out that 33,687 persons are currently in the Civil Security Force.
COPA Chairman Lasantha Alagiyawanna recommended that a report be submitted to COPA with a date before September 11 regarding the preparation of a legal framework regarding the Civil Security Department to suit the State budget. (Ajith Siriwardana)
