The number of COVID-19 patients reported relating to the Minuangoda cluster is getting low and the patients reported from the Paliyagoda fish market is increasing, Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said.

Speaking to the media today, he said the COVID-19 patients reported around the country during the past month had any kind of link with the Peliyagoda and Minuwangoda COVID clusters.

He said the infected persons were reported from around the country, which means the disease had already been spread all over the country. “We hope more and more patients will be reported from the Gampaha District and the Colombo Municipality areas in the future,” he said.

Therefore, people should be very careful of this pandemic, because the strain found from the recent virus was very high and the chances of getting infected was also much higher, Dr. Samaraweera said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
