4 bodies recovered; 2 still missing

The bodies of 2 people who drowned after the van they were travelling in plunged into the water after going over the Pottaliya bridge along the Polonnaruwa-Batticaloa road, were recovered a short while ago.

  2 people are still reported missing.

The victims were travelling from Kalmunai to Colombo at the time of the incident. Four bodies were recovered and sent to the Polonnaruwa hospital mortuary.

7 people, including 4 women and 3 men, were traveling in the van. The sole survivor was a doctor working in the Middle East. (Sanath Desmond and K.G.Karunarathna)
