Army SC, SSC record fourth successive win

Army SC and CCC maintained their unbeaten record of the ongoing Under 23 inter-club cricket tournament by recording their fourth successive wins. Army SC coasted to a comfortable 62 runs win on the D/L method against Navy SC in the match played at Welisara while SSC defeated Tamil Union by four wickets also on D/L method at P. Sara Stadium.

Army SC’s win came on the back of a knock of 104 by Bishan Mendis and an unbeaten 71 by Pathum Kumara which helped them make a formidable score of 271 and Navy SC in their turn able to end on 114 for 9.

SSC helped by a half ton from Nipun Dhananjaya overcame Tamil Union by four wickets while a five wicket haul by Amshi de Silva enabled CCC to defeat Kurunegala YCC by four wickets at the CCC ground.

In the other matches played saw Air Force SC, Badureliya CC, Sebastianites CC and Galle CC coming out victorious against Lankan CC, Nugegoda S&WC, Police SC and Kandy Customs SC respectively.

At Welisara – Army SC won by 62 runs on D/L (Target 176 in 22 overs)

SSC: 223 for 6 in 45.4 overs (Nipun Dhananjaya 62, Krishan Sanjula 45, Chamod Wickramasinghe 40, Sammu Ashan 45 n.o.)

At CCC – CCC won by four wickets (Target 99 in 36 overs)

Kurunegala YCC: 105 in 33.4 overs (Amshi de Silva 5 for 23, Ruvin Seneviratne 4 for 18)

At Katunayake – Air Force SC won by four wickets on D/L (Target 138 in 43 overs)

At Maggona – Badureliya CC won by two wickets
