Two of Sri Lanka's women cricketers, Chamari Atapattu and Shashikala Siriwardene, will participate in the Indian Women's Premier League to be held next month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), multiple sources at Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed.
"The names of these two players were not suggested by us but they have been invited by the BCCI," sources said.
30-year-old Atapattu is the captain of the Sri Lankan women's team and the batting all-rounder played 85 T20Is.
35-year-old former captain Shashikala Siriwardene meanwhile, has retired from international cricket having played 81 T20Is.
Both will leave for the UAE later this month and will join the teams for training after a six-day quarantine in the UAE.
The BCCI has also invited two Bangladeshi cricketers, T20I captain Salma Khatun and right arm pacer Jahanara Alam for the tournament.
Alam participated in the tournament last year as well.
