The UNP will not support the proposed 20th Amendment in any way and will do it’s part to prevent it from being approved in Parliament, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said yesterday.
“The UNP will not support any legislation which deny people their rights ensured to them by the late Prime Minister D. S. Senanayake,” Mr. Wijewardene said in a statement.
“The 20th Amendment should not be allowed to be enacted,” he added. He said the UNP’s national list slot would be filled once the debate on the 20th Amendment is concluded.
