Rishad Bathiudeen’s brother remanded

For allegedly using forged deed to buy 40-acre land in T’mannar

Rifkhan Bathiudeen, the brother of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was yesterday ordered to be remanded till February 6, 2020 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathne for allegedly obtaining the possession of 40 acres of land worth Rs.24 million in Talaimannar on a fraudulent deed.  

The Criminal Investigation Department had initiated this investigation following a complaint lodged by Mohamed Abdul Kaseem on November 26, 2015.  


Another arrested over the case, Mohideen Ansardeen, a resident of Talaimannar for allegedly preparing forged deeds was released on a cash bail of Rs. 15,000 and two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each.
