Police probe on J’pura undergrad hit on head during ragging

The Mirihana Crimes Division is investigating the ragging of a first-year Sri Jayawardenepura University student, who was hit on the head by a tyre thrown at him by some senior students.   

20-year-old Pasindu Hirushan, was admitted to the ICU at the Colombo National Hospital on March 5 with hospital sources saying the he is suffering from brain injuries and internal bleeding.   
The Police said statements would be recorded from the students and medical officials of the ambulance which rushed the student to the hospital and inform the Nugegoda Magistrate on the ragging incident.   
When Daily Mirror contacted the Police Media Division as to steps taken so far on the investigation process, Police conformed  that the initial statements  from identified persons (through CCTV footage) have been obtained. It was further revealed that based on the material available Police would thereafter move to identify the suspects against whom legal action would be initiated.
