Foreign-made pistol, ammo found in Azath Salley’s vehicle - Police

• Salley is currently under CID detention and being interrogated

A foreign-made pistol with ammunition was recovered by the CID in a vehicle belonging to former Western Province Governor Azath Salley on Tuesday, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Azath Salley was arrested by the CID in Kollupitiya in connection with a statement he had made on March 10.  

DIG Rohana said Salley is currently under CID detention and being interrogated.  He said the CID will investigate over the pistol found in his car.  
Salley was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act following the instructions of the Attorney General.
