Dambulla Economic Centre (DEC) Management yesterday implemented the new scheme to distribute vegetables all over the country.
Manager of the Economic Centre Christie Wijeratne said vegetable stocks could be delivered to any Divisional Secretariat in the country within 24 hours.
Addressing a meeting of the operations office of the scheme he said the traders who needed stocks of vegetables had only to place orders with the Divisional Secretary in the respective area. He pointed out that agricultural produce of high quality would reach the traders within 24 hours.
Manager Christie Wijeratne said vegetables could be distributed effectively at reasonable prices under the new scheme without any interference by the middlemen and racketeers. He requested the farmers and vendors not to fall prey to the racketeers and to cooperate with the government’s new scheme.
President of Dambulla Joint Farmer Foundation R.B.Herath and President of the Trader Association Channa Erawwala addressed the meeting.
