Legal action would be taken against the CPC trade union activist or employees who were disrupting the distribution of fuel, disrupting the work of other employees or were acting in violation of the essential services orders, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said.

He tweeted that “I have instructed Chairman CPC & CPSTL to take necessary disciplinary steps to consider termination of employment and any legal steps necessary against trade union activist or employees who are disrupting the distribution of fuel, disrupting the work of other employees or is acting in violation of the essential services orders”

Well done sir, get rid of these parasites

Rip Winkle Tuesday, 28 March 2023 07:15 PM

    Popular chap, aren't you?

    Nm Tuesday, 28 March 2023 08:23 PM

The highly politicized, utterly corrupt unions of the state owned enterprises such as CPC had been holding the nation for ransom for decades. Sack all the corrupt leaders. Entire nation will stand behind you.

    Sam Tuesday, 28 March 2023 08:42 PM

If the unions don't toe the line, sack them summarily.

    nm Tuesday, 28 March 2023 09:09 PM

There are thousands of good people who have lost their jobs because of actions of such unions along with corrupt politicians. Sacking them will be a step forward. Dont cry for them Sri Lanka!

At least we have now one minister with a backbone. He suits better to the present president more than the ex president!

Legal action will fail, even PUCSL chairman is still in job Tuesday, 28 March 2023 10:25 PM

Kanchana threatened to remove PUCSL chairman. His government has majority, but utterly powerless to pass law to remove PUCSL chairman even, or shorten his term even. Kanchana threats of legal action is hot air. Court action will never happen. Best he can do is get military involved maybe to do the duties of the strikers.

The action of the minister shows that there were no consultations with the employees and trade unions. Major structural changes have to be bottom – top discussions and not to force on the employees. Shows immaturity and as Bandula Gunawardena said we have no brains to understand the overarching issues.

Nilmini Welivita Wednesday, 29 March 2023 05:20 AM

Citizens should take Legak action against Kanchana for taking commissions and defrauding the people of SL.

    Jude Wednesday, 29 March 2023 07:46 AM

Do what JR did in July 1980

    Priyan Wednesday, 29 March 2023 08:57 AM

Sack them immediately. Don't let these buggers keep destroying the nation by threatening the government endlessly with all kinds of selfish demands.

    Rathnavali Wednesday, 29 March 2023 08:58 AM

It is either them or the country! Shows how much these people love the country. A transfer of government shares to a private party means the private entity manages these hooligans. That is definitely not to their liking as they cannot

    Rob Wednesday, 29 March 2023 09:16 AM

It's about time to put a stop for all unnesory nonsense that been playing for own benifits selfish behavior only can be stoped making proper rules regulations that this fellows can't do what ever they want government must be firm any person or officials party's etc.that refuse to corporate should be repramanted or dismissed from duties the nation still suffering from every way due to the mess we need people who can contribute for the economy not distroying the countries economy public suffering etc.
