The newly received AztraZeneca vaccines will be administered in several locations in the Western Province from tomorrow as the second dose for the recipients of the first dose, the Health Ministry said.
Accordingly, Director-General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena said the vaccines would be given at 13 hospitals covering 18 MOH offices in the Colombo district while 15 hospitals covering 15 MOH hospitals in the Gampaha district.
Also, in the Kalutara district, the vaccine would be given in five centres.
The Health DG requested those arriving at vaccination centres to come alongside their identity card and the vaccination card.

As there going to be a big rush it is prudent to have more service points at each centre in order to reduce waiting time as most of them will be aged sick people.

How is the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine administered? How it's given The vaccine is given by 2 separate injections of 0.5 mL each into the muscle of the arm. For the vaccine to work best, you need to get 2 doses: a first dose and then a second dose 4 to 12 weeks later. Immunity develops over time. It takes about 2 weeks to develop significant protection against COVID-19

We received information that the vaccine roll out for 2nd dose will be carried out from 1st August to 6th August for the Wattala area at the MOH office. This was confirmed by the GS. However, no such thing is taking place. The MOH office is blissfully closed, the phone appears to be off the hook. We are supposed to go into the information age with high-flying people in the ministry which comes under the President. Mis information is strife.

So many doctors and healthcare professionals have contacted the virus, despite being vaccinated. Why get vaccinated in the first place? This is just a placebo.
