The death toll in the ferry tragedy in Kuringankerni Lagoon has increased to seven after a 7-year-old girl who was receiving treatment at the Trincomalee Hospital died.
The girl died while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Trincomalee Hospital, police said.
Earlier, six persons including four children had drowned and 20 others were hospitalised when a ferry capsized in the Kuringankerni Lagoon in Kinniya.
Chairman of Kinniya Urban Council, owner and two operators of the ferry were arrested in connection with the incident.(DSB)

Shame on the government who boast of building roads and "Books". What a fiasco it was to see the Kalaniya Hanging Bridge being opened a few days ago. Hang some nooses from the bridge for the use of the poor people.
