Booster dose will also be made mandatory to access public spaces in addition to first and second doses, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
During a meeting held at the Health Ministry, Minister Rambukwella stated that a new vaccine card with a QR code and a vaccination app would be introduced soon.
"Thereby, three doses of a COVID vaccine would be made compulsory for people when entering public places," he added.
Meanwhile, Minister Rambukwella said plans are afoot to turn all local government bodies in the country into vaccination centres to expedite booster rollout.
"Relevant officials have been instructed to add more vaccine centres to administer booster to the eligible persons," he said.
"So far, 28% of total population has received their booster dose and we hope to bring that percentage to a greater level before the end of this month," the Minister added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

What are the public places? Airport, streets , bus halts, railway stations, super/mini markets, govt/private offices etc. Refer the Oxford dictionary before defining public places.

Many have died after taking the booster shots. Who will pay compensation to the families? Are they trying to DE- POPULATE SL?

PCR and Antigen test must be done free of charge in gov. hospitals. If testing is expensive many with symptoms will hide the truth. PCR is 6000 privately.

Good move but while making the Booster dose mandatory Please think it is compulsory for the govt. to ensure the people of this country is provided with their daily basic needs such as food, medicine, Gas , milk food for the children etc.. at a affordable price. We cannot live simply with the Booster Shot alone when our families are suffering without our basic needs. Even a Panadol is not available in most places. With all these difficulties a govt is not required if you all cannot solve any of these problems.

Your Booster is giving body wise unfitness to many elders. There are suffering a lot up to one month. After two months it is useless.

Public will need to give you a booster to ensure that all queues do not arise for Gas. Milk food, Kerosene, consumer items, fertilizer which is out of control

Is it an offence for not getting Covid or not getting boosters? A healthy person is compelled to get a booster, arn't it's an injustice? Children possess natural immunity, why force them to get vaccinated. There is no logic in it.

It is astonishing that no attempt has been made in Sri Lanka to use Ayurveda to bring the Covid pandemic under control like was done in India

35 people die on road accidents daily, no one is bothered. One or two Omicron deaths reported, whole nation put on a war footing to be vaccinated. Is the drug mafia behind the scene or inexperienced people manning the health ministry?
