Top-seed in the Men’s Open singles Thehan Wijemanne, along with Chathurya Nilaweera and Anjalika Kurera, advanced to the final of the 106th Colombo Tennis Championship when they came out on top in the semi-final encounters played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
The trio cruised through to easy wins against Archana Lokuge, Vibuda Wijebandara, and Tuvini de Alwis, with the same winning margin of two sets to nil. In the other semi-final of the Women’s Open, Neyara Weerawansa won the first set and was leading in the second when rain put a stoppage to the proceedings. The match will be continued today.
Meanwhile, in the junior category, Aahil Kaleel clinched the Under 12 boy’s title with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Methiika Wickramasinghe in the final. The championship will continue today.
