Serandib SC beat Saunders 3–1 as Java Lane and Solid share points

Serandib SC Mawanella recorded a comfortable 3–1 victory over Saunders SC Colombo in the FFSL Champions League Super Eight Round seventh-week match played last Saturday.

In the other match played alongside it, Java Lane SC Colombo and Solid SC Anuradhapura battled to a 1–1 draw after a closely fought encounter.

The tournament, organised by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), concluded yesterday at the Racecourse Ground in Colombo.

In the Serandib–Saunders clash, Serandib dominated the first half and led 2–0 at the break. Darko George opened the scoring in the 16th minute, while Bado Robinson doubled the lead in the 35th minute.

Saunders attempted a comeback in the second half when Mohamed Zaid scored in the 75th minute, reducing the deficit. However, Serandib substitute Vignesh Vijayakumar sealed the victory with a goal in the 84th minute, taking the score to 3–1.

Saunders suffered a setback late in the game when Frimpong Yaw received a red card in the 84th minute and was sent off. Mohamed Luthfi of Serandib was named Player of the Match for his performance.

Meanwhile, the match between Solid SC and Java Lane SC ended in a 1–1 draw after a competitive contest. The first half ended goalless, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock.

The second half produced more action, with Mohamed Azad putting Java Lane ahead in the 56th minute. Henry Chibueze responded quickly for Solid SC, equalising in the 62nd minute.

Mohamed Azad was named Player of the Match for his impressive display.
