The third day’s proceedings of the SSC Open Tennis Championship concluded at the SSC tennis courts in Maitland Place with Jaitra de Saram and Dinusha Wijesuriya winning their third round matches with ease to advance to pre-quarter finals.
De Saram overcame Levin Ratnasingham while Wijesuriya got the better of Matheesha Nettasinghe by the identical winning margin of two sets to nil.
Meanwhile top seed Sanka Athukorala who missed out on the Colombo Tennis Championship along with Gayanga Weerasekera, Raveen de Alwis, Archana Lokuge, Anujaya Abeywickrama, Nishendra Sivendran, Neil Jayaranga, Dumindu Dilum, Savit Weerasinghe, Michael Siyaguna, Vichinthya Nilaweera, Kavisha Ratnayake, Yaniska Cooray, Sugath Weerawansa, Luca Knese, Rayan Fernando, Thehan Wijemanne, Suren Balachandran, Kiran Vairawanathan, Suresh Perera, Jagath Gamage, Gayanath Senadeera, Senal Hemakumara and Arika Kelegama won their matches respectively to advance the third round.
The championship will be continued today.
