Renown SC were forced to go into self- isolation after their head coach and a player tested positive for COVID-19 disrupting the Super League Pre-Season tournament on the second day of the competition.
Their match against Defenders scheduled to be held yesterday at 5.00 p.m. had to be postponed.
Reigning FA Cup champions Colombo FC cruised past Blue Eagles 2-0 in the late game with Bodric Dimitri scoring in the 41st minute and Shabeer Razooniya in the 85th minute.
As per instructions from MOH (Ministry of Health) Nugegoda and Institute of Sports Medicine, those from Renown SC who came in close contact with the coach and the player have been advised to undergo self-isolation with immediate effect for the next six days.
Another PCR test will be done after that and depending on the outcome their further participation in this tournament will be decided.
All players and officials are subject to one PCR test and three Rapid Antigen tests during the tournament. If three players in a club are tested positive, the team will be temporarily withdrawn from the competition.
The winners of the Pre-Season competition which runs until March 10 will receive Rs 1 million. The tournament is being played behind closed doors.
