Sri Lanka U-19 batsman Ravindu Rasantha was named in the 2020 U-19 Cricket World Cup Team of the Tournament, having finished as the second highest run scorer at the event in South Africa. Rasantha was some distance behind the leading run-getter of the World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal of India who accumulated 400 runs, but his tally of 286 was the best of the rest, making him the only Sri Lankan to make the team of the tournament. A student of S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia, Rasantha’s best effort at the tournament came against Nigeria U-19, when he scored 102 off 111 deliveries as Sri Lanka beat Nigeria in the Plate quarterfinals. Finalists Bangladesh U-19 and India U-19 had the most players for one country, with three from each making the team of the tournament, with Canadian Akil Kumar named as the 12th man. U-19 Cricket World Cup Team of the Tournament: Yashasvi Jaiswal – India, Ibrahim Zadran – Afghanistan, Ravindu Rasantha – Sri Lanka, Mahmudul Hasan Joy – Bangladesh, Shahadat Hossain – Bangladesh, Nyeem Young – West Indies, Akbar Ali – Bangladesh (WK, Captain), Shafiqullah Ghafari – Afghanistan, Ravi Bishnoi – India, Kartik Tyagi – India, Jayden Seales – West Indies, 12th man: Akil Kumar – Canada.
