Navin de Silva the former Wesley College, cricket captain and Sri Lanka Under-19 skipper showed his supreme class to become the overall winner at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) President’s Prize which took place last weekend at their club course.
More than 240 golfers teed off this year’s event and it was the very first time that a sitting president became the overall Nett winner.
Navin is also one of the former Captains of the RCGC.
Over two demanding rounds, consistency, composure and precision separated the champion from the chasing pack in one of the club’s most competitive editions in recent years. Navin carded 65 and 73 totalling 138 while Dehan de Silva was the runner up with 140 Nett.
Dehan’s performance was highlighted by his consistency across both days, combining controlled shot-making with tactical course management. His ability to remain within striking distance of the lead underscored his competitive temperament and skill under pressure.
Sachin de Silva was in good form winning the Overall Gross with scores of 70 and 77 totalling 147.
The Masters division was won by Michael Beamish with a Nett score of 68 while Bandula Weerasinghe scored 69 Nett to end runner up. In the seniors’ division Kumar Boralessa won with a Nett 68 while the runner up was Priath Fernando with a score of 71 Nett.
Deepani Gamage was in sparkling form as the winner in the women’s segment with a nett score of 66 while Manori Jayakody scored 71 to end runner up.
The senior women’s division was won by D Hameed while Kalyani Ranasinghe ended as runner up.
