The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation (SWF) yesterday unanimously suspended Team Manager Donald Indrawansha after he disappeared before the start of the 17th Senior Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway.

Sri Lanka fielded a seven-member contingent for this meet, which was held from October 2 to 10 with the participation of competitors from 173 countries.

SWF President Sarath Hewawitharana said that Indrawansha had gone missing from the team hotel, skipping even the team meetings.

The SWF have already informed the matter to the Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Controller Department of Immigration and Emigration, Secretary of the Sports Ministry, Director General Department of Sports Development and the Criminal Investigation Department.

The Sri Lankan wrestlers who made an impact during the tournament were Madusanka Weerasuriya (74kg), Charles Fernando (65kg), Suresh Fernando (79kg) and Anil Munasinghe (79kg).
