Retired Wing Commander Lakmal Gunewardene produced an outstanding performance to clinch the coveted Eagles Monsoon Cup Golf Trophy in the men’s category while Dr. Pravina Dunuwille emerged victorious in the women’s category at the tournament’s fourth edition at China Bay, Trincomalee.
Retired Wing Commander Nalin Bentharaarachchi and Niloo Jayathilake secured the respective runner-up honours.
The event had more than 80 golfers in action.
Buddika Amarasinghe and Air Chief Marshal Jayalath Weerakkody claimed the Longest Drive and Nearest to the PIN in the men’s division with Sandra Cadien won the women’s Longest Drive.
In the Tri-Services segment, the Eagles’ Monsoon Defence Challenge Trophy was won by Wing Commander Asantha Gunaratne while Lieutenant Commander Mevan Perera of the Navy finished runner-up.
Commodore Mangala Mummullage claimed the Longest Drive award in the Defence category while retired Wing Commander Lakmal Gunewardene also secured the Best Total Net Score in the Six Hidden Holes segment. Group Captain Prabath Wijekoon received the Commander’s Island Green Award for the 2025 iteration.
