Former Mahanama College, Army and Sri Lanka rugby stalwart, Kapila Knowlton has been appointed as the head of the rugby Selection Committee as he brings with him a wealth of playing experience, discipline and deep understanding of players.

Knowlton’s rugby journey began at Mahanama College, where he earned a reputation as a committed and intelligent player with strong leadership qualities. His transition to the Army marked a significant phase of his career, as he featured prominently in the domestic circuit, competing at the highest level of club rugby. Representing the Army, he was known for his physicality, game awareness and team-first approach qualities that later shaped in to national level later on.

The other selectors are Trinity College’s double International, Duminda de Silva, former Antonian and CH player Jude Pillai and Zahira-CR player Mohamed Mushtaq.

Indika Rukshani Ariyasena, Sri Lanka’s pioneer women’s rugby captain who also played for Army is the other team selector.

She had her education at Mayadunne Maha Vidyalaya in Avissawella.
