Kaya and Reshan shine at Faldo Series Sri Lanka 2026

The Faldo Series Sri Lanka 2026, sponsored by DFCC Bank with N-able as the official technology partner, concluded in fine style at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), showing the depth of junior golfing talent across multiple age groups. The prestigious event teed off in front of a large, appreciative crowd at RCGC, once again living up to its reputation as a key pathway for young golfers aspiring to make their mark on the regional and international stage.

The spotlight firmly belonged to the 17–21 age group, where Reshan Algama delivered a superb and consistent performance over three days to clinch the title. Reshan topped the leaderboard with an impressive grand total of 205, demonstrating composure and control under pressure. With this win, he moves as the top Sri Lankan Junior in the WAGR. His 8 under par on round 2 is a record for any member at this course. Kumar Danushan ended as runner-up in the Boys’ segment with a total of 212 strokes.

Another sensational girl golfer, Kaya Daluwatte, produced several standout rounds to secure the Girls’ title in a one-horse race with a total of 208 strokes. With her overseas exposure, Kaya looked a class act. Danushi Wanasinghe was runner-up with a total score of 295. She also became the overall winner.

In the age group 13 to 16, which featured a strong international presence, Vivaan Ubhayakar of India emerged as champion after a steady three-round effort, finishing with a grand total of 215, followed by another Indian golfer, Karmanye Mahajan, who ended as runner-up with 222 strokes in total. Mira Agrawal of India won the girls’ with a total of 258, while Kandy girl Sithara Lorance was runner-up with 267 in total.

The 11-12 age group saw Bangladesh’s Syed Mahbeer dominate the competition to secure a win with 98 in total, while Vivaan Singh of India finished second. Meanwhile, Jaeden Sathasivam missed out by 3 strokes. In the girls’ segment Vihara Herath won with 133 strokes, while Dulkini Kangara was runner-up with a score of 141.

The younger segments were equally competitive. In the age segment 9-10, Ayra Yasin was in sensational form, winning the event with a total score of 109, while Ashna Amogha from India was the runner-up with 115 strokes. Meanwhile, in the boys’ segment, Abiman Abeywardhana was in sensational form from round 1 onwards, winning with 115 strokes, while Jayith Guruge was runner-up, 10 strokes behind.

Meanwhile, the 7–8 age group saw Thangaraja Ometh coming back on the last round to win with 139 strokes, while Rahein Manatunga, who led in rounds 1 and 2, ended as runner-up with the same scores, but on countback, Ometh won the segment. In the girls’ segment, Kyra Cader won the segment with a total score of 161, while Vignesh Samyaktha was runner-up with 166.
