Junior golfer Algama aces on top

The Faldo Series Sri Lanka 2026 continued to underline its stature as the premier pathway for junior golf development with another competitive round worked off under excellent course conditions at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).

The senior segment age group of 17 to 21 had sensational junior golfer Reshan Algama climbing to top spot with a remarkable round 2 of 8 under par, one of the best rounds played at the Royal Colombo Golf Course. He stroked a brilliant 63 aggregating a total of 134. 

Kumar Dhanushan finished a strong second on 139 while Kaya Daluwatte claimed third place on 142, despite a testing round 2 where she ended on 77 but is tipped to bounce back on the final day.

The Age group of 13 to 16 had India’s Vivaan Ubhayakar clinch top honours with a steady 143 total. Fellow Indian Karmanye Mahajan secured second place on 150 while Sri Lanka’s Adhithya Weerasinghe finished third on 152 continuing his consistent upward trend in junior competition.

The highly competitive age group of 11 to 12 had some entertaining golf with Syed Mahbeer of Bangladesh producing the standout performance, topping the segment with an impressive 65. Jaeden Sathasivam followed closely in second on 72. He is a fighter who will never give up and is eager to bounce back while India’s Vivaan Singh was placed third with a solid 73, reflecting the international flavour of the event.

The Faldo Futures Age group 9 to 10 produced exciting golf with Ayra Yasin of Pakistan leading the field on 71. Abiman Abeyawardena was placed second on 78 while India’s Aashna Amogha also with 78 was placed third.

The Age group 7 to 8 witnessed what future golf is for Sri Lanka when Rahein Manatunga continued his top position with a total score of 89 while Thangaraja Ometh was placed second on 95 with Kehan Herath third on 104.
