A total of eight new meet records were established on the opening day of the All-Island Schools Relay Championship which began at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo today (20).
The records were set in the Under-12, Under-14, Under-18, Under-16 and Under-20 events.
Meanwhile, Sir John Kotelawala Central, Kurunegala (Boys’ Under-16, 4x100m), Gateway College, Rajagiriya (Girls’ Under-20, 4x100m) and A.
Ratnayake Central, Walala (Boys’ and Girls’ Under-18, Medley Relay) came out victorious in the four finals that were worked off.
The championship will be continued tomorrow.
The records: Science College, Mount Lavinia 55.06s. (Under-12 Girls’ 4x100m): Our Lady of Victory Convent, Moratuwa 57.09s.
(Under-12 Boys’ 4x100m)
(Under-14 Boys’ 4x100m): 47.60s Rahula College, Matara. (Under-14 Girls’ 4x100m): Musaeus College 52.38s.
(Under-16 Girls’ 4x100m): A. Ratnayake Central, Walala 50.49s.
(Under-18 Boys’ 4x100m): St. Peter’s, Bambalapitiya 42.40s. (Under-18 Girls’ 4x100m): Lyceum, Wattala 49.99s.
(Under-20 Boys’ 4x100m): St. Mary’s, Kegalle 42.21s.
