Chicken feed for Peterites

St. Peter’s College made mincemeat of underdog Prince of Wales College in their inter-school league rugby match at the Air Force ground Ratmalana yesterday winning 65-21.

The Peterites needed just five minutes to rip open the defences and surged into a 17-0 lead with three tries, two by Ashok Krishan and the other by Hashara Madugasge which signalled what was in store for Prince of Wales College who were promoted to the top division.

The Peterites ran circles round the opposition and two more tries were scored by Shenuka Perera and Jamal Wahab as they took a 29-0 lead by the 21st minute.

Netshan Manthusha crossed the line for one more try for the Peterites which marked their sixth try to take a 34-0 at half time lead showcasing the lop-sided nature of the tournament.

The Peterite juggernaut moved on in the second half and more misery was heaped up on the unwilling Prince of Wales College team who had no clue to what was happening.

Madugasge, Revon Perera, Manthusha (three tries), Shenuka Perera and Aniq Kamil added to the try-scoring in the second half.

Prince of Wales College picked up their 21 points that included two penalty tries.
