Benard’s dramatic late hat-trick seals big win for Java Lane SC

Java Lane SC Colombo forward Nwabuisi Benard produced a stunning performance by scoring a late hat-trick in the final three minutes of the FFSL Super Eight Round sixth-week matches against Police SC on Saturday.

Java Lane held a 1–0 lead at halftime, but Benard’s remarkable goals in the 88th, 90+2, and 90+4 minutes ensured a commanding 4–1 victory over Police SC. The lone goal for the Police team was scored by Mohamed Rizkhan in the 29th minute.

Benard’s outstanding display earned him the Man of the Match award. The Super Football Tournament, organised by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), is currently being played at the Racecourse Ground in Colombo and will continue until March 15.

Meanwhile, in the other match played alongside it, Serandib SC Mawanella recorded an easy 4–0 win over New Star SC Colombo. Serandib led 2–0 at halftime and dominated the match throughout.

For the winning side, Odoom Enock scored two goals in the 19th minute and 36th minute (penalty). The other goals were scored by Darko George in the 73rd minute and substitute Mohamed Aashir in 90+3 minutes.

New Star SC faced disciplinary setbacks as Mohamed Atheeif received a red card in the 35th minute, while substitute Mohamed Shakir was also sent off in 90+2 minutes.

Odoom Enock was named the Man of the Match for his impressive performance in Serandib’s victory.
