Sri Lanka lose to Saudi Arabia

Sri Lanka lost their final group game of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup against Saudi Arabia at the Sugathadasa indoor stadium yesterday (17), and will face United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their quarter-final encounter.

The hosts made a perfect start, taking the first set 25-22, but conceded the next three 22-25, 19-25, 20-25 to lose the match.

Sri Lanka will face UAE tomorrow at 4.00 p.m.

The tournament is conducted by Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and eight countries take part in this tournament .

Sri Lanka beat Hong Kong 3-1 and Malaysia 3-0 in their earlier group games.

Apart from this in the other matches played yesterday, Malaysia beat Hong Kong 3-0 (30-28, 25-19 and 25-19), Bangladesh beat Mongolia by 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 23-25 and 25-19) while UAE beat Iraq by 3-2 (18-25, 26-24, 25-23,23-25 and 9-15)
