Havelock Sports Club put together a sensational demonstration of rugby as they demolished Army Sports Club by 50 points (eight tries and five conversions) to 32 points (five tries, two conversions and a penalty) in their Dialog Inter-Club League Rugby Tournament match played at Ratmalana today (04).
The Havies after having raced to a 31-13 half time lead gave no opportunities for Army SC to make a comeback into the game while playing some fine rugby.
But, the Soldiers were able to cut the deficit in the second half only to be beaten by 18 points in the end.
Scrum half Mithun Hapugoda was on song as he bagged a brace along with full back Riza Mubarak while flanker Senal Deelaka, fly half Niroshan Fernando, hooker Azmir Fajudeen and centre Dinushan Ariyapala also chipped in with tries. Mubarak made five conversions.
Army SC of course, fought hard with tries from centre Danushka Talwatte who scored a hat-trick while wing three quarter Sudaraka Dikkumbura and hooker Asoka Jayalal also contributed with one try each.
