Bus veers off road at Halpe, injuring nine

At least nine passengers were injured when the steering wheel in a SLTB bus dislodged and the bus veered off the road at Halpe on Badulla - Bandarawela highway and fell into a culvert.   

The injured including four women were admitted to the Demodara Hospital.   Police said the bus belonging to the Bandarawela Depot was transporting passengers from Beddewela to Bandarawela when it met with the accident. Investigations revealed that the driver had lost control of the bus when the steering wheel dislodged and dropped off.   

Traffic branch is conducting further investigations on the instructions of OIC Ella Police CI T.K.U.W. Abeygunawardene.
