Foreign Minister Ali Sabry said that the United States would play a key role in the expedition of Sri Lanka‘s programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Mr. Sabry told Daily Mirror that he was informed of it during his meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken last week.

The Minister said the United States is keen to see that Sri Lanka makes progress in truth-seeking mechanism for reconciliation and scraps the Prevention of Terrorism Act. Besides, he said he discussed with USAID Administrator Samantha Power on further support in the vulnerable areas of Sri Lankan economy and technical assistance in areas like renewable energy.
Meanwhile, Ms. Power said she had an important conversation with the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister to discuss how the US can continue to partner with Sri Lanka to address the country’s economic crisis and build on our development work to support key industries like agriculture.
