Two men tortured and nailed to cross for defaming friend on FB

The Balagolla Police have launched an investigation into the abduction and torture of two persons in an inhumane manner for sharing a defamatory post against an individual on Facebook.   

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said the two victims, who were friends had been brought to the suspect’s residence at Balagolla in Pallekele and then abducted to the Ampitiya area.   


The victims claimed that they were nailed to a cross by the suspect along with eight others on June 25.   


According to the police, the main suspect has been identified as a 30-year-old man named Dushmantha, who runs devalaya’s (shrines) in Ampitiya and another area. The 44-year-old resident of Polgolla and a 38-year-old resident of Bomiriya, Kaduwela who were injured in the incident are receiving treatment at the Kandy General Hospital.   
The spokesman said that the main suspect and others are currently evading arrest.
