Those who want to capture UNP Headquarters Sirikotha will end up by rejoining the party, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said yesterday.

Mr. Kariyawasam came up with this remark in response to a question raised by journalists on another remark made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya
(SJB) candidate Nalin Bandara Jayamaha that SJB will win the general election and would capture UNP Headquarters.

“ Some try to capture Sirikotha in the past but they all ended up rejoining with the party” Mr. Kariyawasam said.  Mr. Kariyawasam who referred to the oil price increase by LIOC on Monday said his party will totally oppose the price hike.

“ People should benefit from the global price reduction of crude oil which has gone down to around US dollars 25 a barrel. However Sri Lanka has become the only country that had increased prices with global price reduction” Mr Kariyawasam said. Also he said, government is actually going to construct the biggest cricket stadium in Homagama with borrowed funds. “ Government has clearly shown that it prefers to borrow funds as in the past” he said.
