Theft of jewellery from a shop in Norwood town Four suspects including a woman arrested

A group of four suspects including a woman had been arrested yesterday in connection with the theft of jewellery valued more than  Rs. 31.5Mn. from a shop in Norwood town.   


Police had been conducting investigations with regard to the robbery that occurred on December 09 last year to identify the suspects.  During investigations the police recovered the stolen jewellery buried in the home garden of one of the suspects in Venture Estate in Norwood.   

 

 

Police said they obtained the finger prints of several suspicious individuals and checked them with those collected from the place of the incident to identify the suspects.   


Under interrogation they provided information leading to the arrest of a 50-year-old woman employed in the shop, who had planned the robbery.   The suspects were to be produced before the Hatton magistrate yesterday. Norwood Police and the Hatton Division Crime Investigation Unit are conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Vijitha Alwis.
