Some MPs wanted arrangements made for them to stay at a hotel during the parliamentary week as such an arrangement will help them to attend Parliament sessions in the fuel crisis, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said yesterday.

“Some MPs said it is difficult for them to obtain fuel because of the shortage to attend sessions and requested me to make some arrangement for them to obtain fuel. They also requested for some hotel accommodation if it is not possible to obtain fuel.

The Speaker said this in response to a row made by the MPs that they have been affected by the media reports that said arrangements have been made for the MPs to obtain fuel from the Police garage in Narahenpita.
