Parliament staff in misappropriation

Colombo High Court yesterday served indictments to three former Parliament staff members who were involved in misappropriation of money of around Rs.4.8 million belonging to the Parliament Thrift Society during January 1st, 2010 to December 31st, 2011.   

The Attorney General served the indictments on the accused Pushpa Kumara, a computer operator of the Hansard Printing Branch, receptionist Indika Prasad and Security Officer Jayamaha Mudalige.   


Following the serving of indictment, they were released on a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and on a surety bail of Rs.1 million on each of the suspect by High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.   
The case is fixed for hearing from April 7th, 2022.
