No buses from Tuesday if no annual bus fare revision considered today: Gemunu

• We had to face fuel price increases twice within a short period of time. Now, we are pushed to a situation to wind up operating buses

Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) yesterday requested to consider the annual bus fare revision by today with the recent hike in the price of diesel, if no favourable response is received, bus services will grind to a halt from Tuesday (28).   

LPBOA Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne said the annual bus fare revision comes in to effect on July 1.   “We had to face fuel price increases twice within a short period of time. Now, we are pushed to a situation to wind up operating buses,” he said.  

Therefore, we have decided to terminate operating bus services from Tuesday (28), if we do not receive the green light for the annual bus fare revision by Monday (27), Wijeratne added.
