Abusali Sithi, a resident of Ampara has claimed that she has found her son who was five years old at the time he went missing in the deadly 2004 tsunami.

She told reporters at her residence yesterday that she had never stopped looking for her son after he went missing and she later told that he was seen at a local hospital.
However, when she visited the hospital the boy had been taken away by a Sinhalese family.

Ms. Sithi said she continued her search but had little support from the Police or the Human Rights Commission.
Eventually she received information about his whereabouts but when attempting to visit him at school to confirm his identity the school authorities refused to let her meet him.
Ms. Sithi said she later managed to contact him promising him employment and revealed to him some unique marks on his body.

He had left the house he was staying in and went to meet the woman who claimed to be his mother and told reporters he was convinced she was his mother and happy to be reunited after 16 years.
