Man goes missing after car plunges into Mahaweli River; two rescued

 A passenger disappeared and two others had a narrow escape from drowning when a motorcar veered off the road and plunged into the Mahaweli River at Ilukmodara in Kandy on Saturday night (27).   

The driver and a passenger who received injuries were admitted to Kandy General Hospital. The three men were on their way back to Gurudeniya after a visit to Kundasale when they met with accident. The disappeared Amila Ekanayake was a resident of Gurudeniya in Kandy. He had been occupying the rear seat of the car.  


Kandy Police with the help of the army recovered the ill fated motorcar yesterday afternoon. 


 They are looking for the missing passenger, who is suspected to have drowned in the river. The driver was arrested pending further investigations.
