Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Office yesterday denied reports stating that Rajapaksa had been hospitalized after suffering from a sudden illness and said he was attending to his daily duties. A senior official from Rajapaksa’s Office, Geethanath Cassilingam denied social media reports circulating that Rajapaksa had been hospitalized and said such reports were false.”He is very much in good health and is attending to his daily work,” Cassilingam said.Rumors were afloat last morning that the former President had undergone urgent surgery and was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Colombo. Several such rumors have circulated over Rajapaksa’s ill health in recent months, which have turned out to be inaccurate.
