The All Island Canteen Owners Association (AICOA) has decided to increase prices of all food, including vegetable rice packets by 10% from the current price.

Association Chairman Asela Sampath said the decision was taken considering the increase in fuel prices and transport costs.

As such, the prices of vegetable, fish and chicken rice packets and fried rice and even Kottu will be increased by 10 percent.   However, no price increase will come to effect on plain-tea, milk tea and hoppers, he added.
Meanwhile three wheeler fares for the second kilometre has been increased to Rs. 90 from yesterday.
All-Island Three-Wheeler Drivers’ Union President Lalith Dharmasekera told the Daily Mirror that the decision was made after the government’s insistence on increasing fuel prices.

The fare for the second km was at Rs.80, following the previous fuel price increase. Although there will be no fare revision in the first km, which stands at Rs.100, only the fares for the second km onwards have gone up, he said.
