With the spike of Covid-19 patients requiring emergency treatment, the health authorities have started securing high- flow Oxygen therapy units in preparedness for any worst scenario expected, an official said.

The initial contingent of such medical equipment including syringe pumps has been delivered to the country.
Deputy Director General of Health Services (Education and Training) Dr. Hemantha Herath told Daily Mirror that the health authorities could manage the current number of patients with the available resources. However, the shape of things to come could not be predicted.  “We don’t know what the situation will look like within the next couple of weeks. Therefore, we keep procuring emergency equipment to be used in any eventuality. There are hospitals with small Oxygen cylinders, jumbo cylinders and standard –sized cylinders. But, we have to prepare for a worst impending scenario,” he said.
