Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa will provide a detailed account of his recent tour to India in Parliament on Friday, Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardene said yesterday.

Mr. Gunawardene said this in response to UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe who questioned Finance Minister Rajapaksa’s recent visit to India. “We wonder as to why the Finance Minister had gone to India in the wake of Central Bank Governor saying that Sri Lanka will not bow down to any other nation by asking for financial assistance,” Mr. Wickremesinghe questioned.
Mr. Gunawardene in reply said Mr. Rajapaksa has not betrayed Sri Lanka’s sovereignty at any point. “The Finance Minister was present in Parliament on many occasions during the budget debate. He will attend the debate on Friday and will inform the House about his recent tour to India and will also inform the House on the financial situation.
