C’wealth assures assistance for uni on Climate Change

  • Countries such as the USA, UK, Japan and Korea have pledged their support to Sri Lanka for climate change matters

The  Commonwealth has assured its assistance to construct the University on Climate Change, Presidential Advisor Ruwan Wijewardene said yesterday. 

 Mr. Wijewardene said the assistance was pledged by Commonwealth authorities during the recent COP 27 conference held in Egypt. 


“In addition the Asian Development Bank had also pledged to play a role in the project,” he said. “Countries such as USA, UK , Japan and Korea have pledged their support to Sri Lanka for climate change matters,” he also said. 
 He said legislations pertaining to the establishment of a climate change Secretariat will be presented to Parliament soon.
