After his earlier tour of the north, Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong visited the Eastern University in Batticaloa and opened the International Affairs Division.

The embassy tweeted that the ambassador had a broad dialogue with the deans of the faculties. The cooperation on agriculture technology, student’s exchanges and the establishment of a Chinese language are among the matters discussed at the meetings.

The Chinese Ambassador visited the Northern Province for three days from December 15 to 17, 2021. The north is an area where Indian interests remain. Therefore, the ambassador’s visit sparked concerns, and analysts viewed it as an act of provocation.

However, the ambassador said he would visit the Eastern Province.
