Amendment of the Urban Settlement

 Development Authority Act 

 
Cabinet approval has been granted on 05.02.2019 to amend the Urban Settlement Development Authority Act No 36 of 2008 to enable the Authority to perform its functions properly. Several other amendments to be made to streamline the work of the Authority were identified later.   


The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal made by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to amend the Urban Settlement Development Authority Act No 36 of 2008 and to advice the Legal Draughtsman to prepare the relevant amendment bill.  

Amendment of the Fauna and Flora 
Protection Ordinance   


Amendment of the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance to formalize the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Sri Lanka as a party of the on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, has signed the Convention on 04.05.1979.   
Cabinet approval has been granted on 06.09.2016 to amend Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance No. 22 of 2009 to give effect to the provisions of that Convention locally. Accordingly, Attorney General has cleared the draft prepared by the Legal Draughtsman.   


The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by Hon. Minister of Justice to publish the said bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter, present the same in Parliament  

Amendments to the Prevention of 
Frauds Ordinance  


The Cabinet of Ministers granted their consent to the proposal made by the Minister of Justice to amend the Prevention of Fraud Ordinance and to advice the Legal Draughtsman to draft an amended bill thereto.  
The Approval was granted to amend the Notaries Ordinance at the Cabinet Meeting held on 19th July, 2021. It has been identified that a conjunctive amendment should be made to the section 2 of the Prevention of Fraud Ordinance in order to comply with the said amendment and Sections 4 and 7 should also be amended.
