The government should reveal to Parliament as to who bore the cost of Maldives parliament speaker Mohamed Nasheed to attend the COP27 summit representing Sri Lanka, National People’s Power(NPP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday.

He told Parliament that it was surprising that the President was going round the world attending summits and funerals when people including children were starving.

SJB MP Nalin Bandara said Maldives Parliament Speaker attending the summit representing Sri Lanka, had been questioned in international media and said Sri Lanka as a sovereign country had been humiliated due to the incident.

The MP questioned whether Nasheed attended the summit as there was no suitable Sri Lankan to represent Sri Lanka.

Leader of the House Minister Susil Premajayantha refused to answer the question saying that it was not relevant to him.
